This Monday, if you find that your email mailbox is overflowing with messages, you are not alone. Online, users of Microsoft Outlook have been venting their frustration over what appears to be a problem with their junk blocker. This problem has resulted in the users receiving an excessive amount of spam, which would normally be redirected elsewhere.
For example, the user @bdsams on Twitter shared a screenshot of what appeared to be his mailbox, and it was stuffed to the brim with obviously useless junk. We are discussing email addresses made up of random numbers, bogus security warnings, and blatant attempts to steal information through phishing.
It is not obvious what is causing the problem or when it might be fixed if it can even be fixed at all. In an effort to obtain clarification and additional information, Mashable contacted out to Microsoft; however, we did not immediately hear back from them. We will provide an update to the story whenever there is new information or comments from the business.
Tom Warren of The Verge pointed out that his Outlook mailbox already contained twenty spam messages when he woke up this morning, and that new ones continued to arrive throughout the course of the morning. You can see that Warren is not even close to being the only person who feels that way if you go on Twitter.
On Twitter, British novelist and historian Hallie Rubenhold expressed her thoughts by saying, "I'm being bombarded. Whoever it is, kindly put an end to it!"
People's inboxes, particularly when it comes to their professional lives, need to be kept clean and organized at all times. We can only hope that additional information and a solution of some kind to the apparent problem will become available very soon.
